We can support your team by:
WSDS/Deaf-Blind Project staff will partner with your team to address specific challenges you are experiencing with a child or young adult who is deaf-blind. Our staff understand the uniqueness of deaf-blindness and the profound impact that a combined vision and hearing loss can have on all areas of development.
Services support children and youth, birth to 21 years:
- Technical assistance via phone or email consultation
- Onsite Consultation Services
- Online and onsite trainings
- Classroom visit to observe how the child is currently functioning and meet with the team to determine next steps
- Conduct an evaluation in specific areas (e.g. communication, vision)
- Develop an appropriate assessment battery
- Establish a workable communication system or improve an existing one
- Develop outcomes or goals for a child’s Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Modify the environment to make it easier for the child to be included in family life or the general classroom curriculum
- Transition Services
- Start planning for life after high school
