


Depending on your questions or concerns regarding a child who has both a hearing loss and vision problem, services might look very different.

One of our educational or family consultants might make a visit to a child’s home or school, to help the family or school team:
WSDS offers local, regional, and state trainings throughout the year on topics relating to children and youths with deaf-blindness. See our Training Calendar for information on upcoming training opportunities. The Combined Summer Institute on Special Education (held in July in Wenatchee) is the place to participate in intensive training.
Recorded Trainings
We are pleased to announce that we have 4 multiple-part online training series currently available that address the needs of children with multiple disabilities including combined vision and hearing loss. Check back on February 7th, 2012 to watch Part One of Person Centered Planning, and then registered for Part 2 LIVE!

New! Instructions for Earning Clock Hours
You can earn clock hours for each of the training series on dual sensory disabilities. The amount of clock hours available for each series are as follows: 2-Part Series (3 hours total): 3 Clock Hours
3-Part Series (4.5 hours total): 4.5 Clock Hours
4-Part Series (6 hours total): 6 Clock HoursTo receive clock hours for a training series, please follow these easy steps:
Watch all parts to the recorded training series (~90 minutes each).
Complete questions included with each series "Clock Hour Instructions." These can be found in the paragraph above each series.
Complete the Training Evaluation.
Email questions and evaluation to Mikaela O'Brien at mobrien@psesd.org and request clock hours.
Watch brief video clips of instructional strategies to use with deaf-blind children.
