This training will help develop familiarity with high risk factors for vision and hearing loss in young children. Participants will learn to use a parent interview, developmental skills checklist, observation to identify children at risk for sensory loss and how to make appropriate referrals for diagnostic follow up.  Topics to be covered:

  • using the Three-Pronged Approach screening tool
  • screening hearing using otoacoustic emissions (OAE) equipment
  • eligibility criteria for infants and toddlers for services through the Washington Deaf-Blind Project.
