This is an 8 month program that offers the following activities to support educational interpreters:

  • Individual interpreter remote mentorship sessions
  • In person group conversation nights with Deaf language models – new!
  • Week long Summer Intensive training at WSD in Vancouver (June 25-29, 2018)
  • Webinars relating to EIPA assessment priority areas – new!
  • One onsite mentor visit—new!
  • Performance EIPA test
  • Boys Town National Research Hospital EIPA Video Conference series free of charge (12/7, 2/10, 4/7) – new!

⇒ ASL Assessment for Birth to Five: Visual Communication & Sign Language Checklist (VCSL)

This workshop will provide an introduction to the Visual Communication and Sign Language checklist (VCSL), including information on how the assessment was developed and standardized.  Participants will learn how to administer and score the VCSL using both the paper‐pencil format and the VCSL:Online system, which includes the ability to generate reports. In addition, after reviewing items on the checklist, participants will work together to develop activities that facilitate the acquisition of language skills in different age categories.

This workshop will provide tools, strategies and assessments for Teachers of the Deaf by focusing on how to develop and expand everyday writing in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing special focus classroom, K‐12.
